It looks like there is a distinct possibility that Yamaha may have decide to at least think about going into competition with Honda, some patent documents have surfaced that would indicate a futuristic looking sport cruiser may be in the works at Yamaha.

Our Spanish friends over at Solomoto have clearly been dredging through the patent office paperwork and the consensus seems to be a sport tourer type bike similar to Honda's DN01 based around the powerplant of the T-Max. This seems a likely compromise, unfortunately if this is the direction they go in there will be a problem... in fact the same problem the DN01 has... but potentially even worse, that problem obviously is POWER, the TMax is a fine scooter but doesn't really set the world on fire, surely Yamaha could come up with a way of mating a more powerful engine to the beast and give us something more like Aprillia's Mana. It is quite possible that the design submitted for patent could just be an interim measure while they put together a hydraulic auto more like Honda's system.

I am all for more of these Auto bikes, I just hope they give it a bit more mambo than would be expected from the patent docs/blatant guesses currently in circulation.
