Ducati Vyper Cruiser

Ducati to take on Harley Davidson at their own (sort of) game? Word on the street that seems to be backed up by Ducati high command is that a bike may be ready for sale in 2010.

At least Claudio Domenicalli has said that Ducati are looking at a 170hp stroked testrastretta powered 1400cc cruiser. A prototype is heavily rumoured to be running and in preliminary testing in Bologna.

The pics are a series of renders for www.asphaltandrubber.com by (clearly incredibly talented) designer Luca Bar from Bar Design. Word is that the Vyper will feature a low seat and large section rear tyre... standard issue custom cruiser stuff alongside this however the trademark trellis frame will mix the styling up a bit. I have heard a lot of people talking the design down but I reckon if the Vyper looks anything like the Bar-Design renders they will be onto a winner. This machine is clearly aimed at the American market and will supply an interesting alternative to what is currently available especially when you take the HP into account... currently a powerful Harley off the shop floor makes closer to 100 than 200hp.
