The new RC8R for '09 from KTM is doing a damn fine job of building on the already radical RC8. The new R version retains the Boba Fett styling and gains a pretty mean looking Matt Black and Orange colour scheme. I couldn't tell you exactly what power the new bike makes standard but with the optional race exhaust the new machine makes 180hp or around 25 more than the standard RC8. This power increase is mainly thanks to an increase in displacement, up to 1195cc.
We can only assume that this increase in displacement is to bring it inline with the 1200cc ceiling for vtwins in the world superbike series. SBK is a series that KTM are strongly expected to be part of in the very near future. If you are out looking for one on the street and want to look in "the know" the "R" model is identified by a bright orange frame.
