I had the absolute pleasure of attending just one day (Saturday) of the 3 day long extravaganza that was the NZ Classic Motorcycle Racing Register's 31st Classic Festival. This event, held at Auckland's Pukekohe Park Raceway had an absolutely fantastic showing, I had an absolutely fantastic time wandering around the pits and the carpark (bikepark???) both of which were overflowing with the beautiful, weird, wonderful and just plain amazing motorcycles... Then there was the racing. I had a hard time believing that these absolutely immaculate classics were being absolutely hammered around the track.

Then I started thinking about the spare Jawa in my garage... hmmm damn you people for putting ideas in my head!

Anyway the range of bikes on show was fantastic, from an absolutely wonderful display (an entire marquis full!) of Whitworth Rudge machinery from the turn of the century through to much later machines... my favorite had to be a straight up cool 1914 Rudge Multi with a Wooden (well wood faced at least) chain/drive belt setup... Otherwise there was everything from a brand new Honda custom chopper to Japanese classics, Vellocettes, and a plethora of British steel, AJS', Matchless, BSA, Triumph... you name it, it was there including NZ's own Britten and a mint Vincent which was later seen flying around the track in full attack mode!

All in all I wish I could have stayed for the whole weekend and will definitely be back next year... anyone else out there with even a vague interest in the old, unusual and/or fast should definitely make a point of checking it out.

That's it for the words, enjoy just a few of the pics taken on the day.
